Police wake up man in car, perform a series of tests on him

BRADFORD — On Wednesday, December 28 around 4:30 p.m., police were called to a fast food restaurant in Bradford West Gwillimbury regarding a suspicious person inside a parked vehicle.

Officers arrived and found a male who appeared to be sleeping inside the car.

They attempted to wake him up by banging on the window, but were unsuccessful.

Concerned for his well-being, police entered the car and were able to wake the man.

Inside the car, the officer could detect a strong odour of marijuana.

Through the investigation, the male driver showed signs of impairment.

He was arrested at taken to the North Division where a Drug Recognition Expert performed a series of tests on him.

A 20-year-old Bradford man is facing charges of impaired driving. He will be appearing in court on February 9.

Starting October 2nd, 2016, drivers under the influence of drugs now face the same sanctions as drivers impaired by alcohol. As a result, the man's drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days.
