Police uproot marijuana grow-up in Angus

ESSA TWP. – Members of the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in relation to a drug investigation in Angus, Essa Township.  

On Monday, April 6, 2020, before noon, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Angus, Essa Township. As a result, a 56-year-old male from Essa Township has been charged with the following:  

  • Theft of electricity or gas- Under $5,000, contrary to s.326(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to s.354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing, contrary to s.9(2) of the Cannabis Act  

Police have also seized a large quantity of Canadian currency and hundreds of cannabis plants.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on June 11, 2020 to answer to the charges.
