Police stop leads to search of vehicle's centre console

Barrie Police were on general patrol in the Barrie downtown area when they spotted a vehicle who's registered owner had a suspended licence since 2006.  

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at 5:38 p.m. the vehicle was stopped by police on Toronto Street, just north of Dunlop Street West, in the City of Barrie.

The driver was confirmed as the registered owner with a suspended licence and also a level G1 driver. The passenger was unlicensed. The driver was placed under arrest and a search found a quantity of marijuana in the center console.  

Subsequently the passenger was also arrested and more marijuana and paraphernalia was located.  

Both parties were transported to the Barrie Police Service where the 18-year-old Barrie male passenger was charged with possession of a controlled substance, fail to comply with sentence x 2, fail to comply with probation order and fail to comply with recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday morning. 

The 35-year-old Barrie female was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension. Also, the female was currently on parole with a condition not to associate with the male she had been driving around in her passenger seat.  

She was transported from the Barrie Police Service straight to Central North Correction Center for breaching her parole conditions.
