Police seek tips in firecracker incidents

INNISFIL – South Simcoe Police Service officers have received another report of an incident involving firecrackers last Tuesday.

On Friday, Oct. 19, a victim came forward to report that suspects in a vehicle had aimed firecrackers at the victim at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 16. The victim said it happened twice while walking in the Innisfil Beach Road and Jans Boulevard area of Alcona.

Police were already investigating similar reports from that night in the same area. This latest victim said multiple suspects were in the vehicle, which was described as a dark grey sedan.

Multiple people were victimized Tuesday evening and we want to identify these suspects in order to ensure these dangerous pranks are stopped. We're lucky that no one has been seriously injured. Firecrackers pose a serious hazard if not used safely and appropriately.

On Friday, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 57 calls for service.
