Original release

Barrie Police are looking to identify a woman who attempted to steal a cart full of groceries and upon being arrested by the store’s loss prevention officer (LPO), refused to wait for police to arrive.

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 just after 6 p.m., a woman was observed pulling the tags off of a winter hat in the clothing department and placing it on her head before joining a male with a cart full of groceries.

The male exited the store prior to the female, and the female then exited the store, (allegedly) making no attempt to pay for any of the items in the cart.

The store’s loss prevention officer approached the female outside the store and informed her that she was under arrest for theft. The suspect accompanied the LPO back into the store, emptying her pockets and returning items to the LPO. She then walked out of the store, refusing to wait for police.

The suspect was last seen getting into the passenger seat of an older model Honda Odyssey van.

The suspect is described as:

  • Female, white
  • 5’5” to 5’7” tall
  • Aged late 20s to early 30s
  • Long, dark-blond hair
  • Wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and tall black boots
