Police search for suspect in Alliston Scotiabank robbery

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - At approximately 4 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, an unknown male entered the Alliston Scotiabank located on Victoria Street, Alliston, in the Town of New Tecumseth. An employee contacted 911 and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene.

The lone male suspect proceeded to lunge over an empty teller wicket and approached three bank employees demanding money. He then began searching cash trays, grabbing a quantity of cash. The suspect then fled from the bank through the main entrance, and proceeded north through an adjacent alleyway.

The suspect did not present any weapon and made no threats to staff. There were no injuries during this robbery.

The suspect is described as male, in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, thin build. Wearing: gloves, black pants, black hoodie, sun glasses and face partially covered by a turtleneck or scarf. Employees believe male suspect to be of Asian descent due to an accent.
