Barrie Police officers have laid a charge in relation to some suspicious paperwork provided to the courts after a male was required to complete community service and a charitable donation as part of a diversion agreement.

The accused male entered into the diversion agreement with the courts in October 2016 in relation to theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and transportation fraud charges.

He was required to complete a specific amount of hours of community service as well as to make a charitable donation and provide proof of both. The male provided the courts with a letter and receipt stating his requirements were fulfilled to a Toronto church and the church's charitable organization.

When follow-up was completed on the validity of the documents it was learned that the church had not issued any of the documentation provided by the accused.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, while attending the Barrie Court House in relation to another charge, the 22-year-old Mississauga man was charged with utter forged documents and held for a bail hearing.
