Police release name of female pedestrian struck, killed on Highway 11

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 11 last night near Line 5 of Oro-Medonte Township.

ORO-MEDONTE - Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian, on Highway 11 near Line 5, Oro-Medonte.

On June 06, 2021, shortly after 10:00 p.m., emergency services received numerous calls reporting that a pedestrian had been struck on Highway 11, northbound, near Line 5. Orillia OPP officers, along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) and Oro-Medonte Fire and Emergency Services responded and, tragically, a deceased female pedestrian was located on the highway. Two vehicles were identified as being involved in the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Caitlyn Benson-Hutchinson, age 29, of Schomberg.

OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members are continuing to investigate the incident. If you witnessed the collision, or have any information regarding the occurrence, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
