Police investigating two collisions in Barrie

Single-vehicle crashes happened Friday night on Bayfield Street, Saturday morning on Huronia Road

Two collisions Friday night and Saturday morning are being investigated by police, with little details available at this time.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday a crash on Bayfield Street at about 11 p.m. Friday was a single-vehicle collision into a light pole near the Baton Rouge restaurant.

“The driver did leave the scene but was located a short distance away. There were a couple of passengers but there did not seem to be any serious injuries,” said Leon.

He said the driver is facing charges related to the collision, but at this time he is unaware what they are.

Two passengers in the vehicle were also uninjured, he added.

Police then received a call at 5:50 a.m. about a vehicle that left the road and ended up in a ditch on Huronia Road.

One person was taken to hospital, though the severity of the injuries is currently unknown.

Huronia Road between Lockhart and McKay roads has since been reopened.
