One woman was injured in the melee, say police, who were provided video of the incident from citizens; the investigation is ongoing

A brawl, that was captured via video and posted online, has been handed over to authorities and is currently being investigated by city police.

In a local Facebook group on Tuesday, a person said they witnessed a “huge fight today with young teens (about 30 of them) on my street.”

While the street was not identifies, the post noted Lennox Park was the starting point of the melee. Lennox Park is in the city’s south end, just off Big Bay Point Road.

The person said they did recorded videos of the incident and have handed them all over to police, with one video having someone yell at another person, “Why do you have a knife bro?” and someone yelling, “He has a knife.”

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon confirmed an incident did occur Tuesday afternoon in the Lennox Park area and said officers are currently reviewing footage and looking into the situation.

“This has been handed over to Investigative Services after the initial report was completed by responding officers. Police were offered recordings of the incident in question,” said Leon.

“There was an injury sustained by a female, who appears to have got involved in the incident as an innocent bystander," Leon said.

County of Simcoe paramedics did attend to treat what Leon called a minor injury.

Leon said there have been no arrests as the investigation is ongoing. As a result, he could not provide further information.
