Police investigate suspicious death at Wasaga Beach

Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a suspicious death in Wasaga Beach.

On Sunday, June 13, 2021, at approximately 12:39 a.m., members of the Huronia West OPP, along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services and Wasaga Beach Fire Department, responded to Beach Area #1 on Beach Drive. An adult male suffering life-threatening injuries was located. Despite efforts, the male succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The victim's identity is being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

Two adult males found near the scene were arrested by police in relation to the incident.

There is no threat to public safety and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

An investigation is being conducted by the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services, OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team, Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Beach Area #1 was closed for the investigation for a period of time. It has now re-opened.

It is believed many people were in the area of this incident at the time of the incident.
