Police find Midland driver's route 'peculiar'

When they searched the vehicle, they allegedly found pot and cocaine

On Jan. 21, 2017, an officer from the Midland Police Service, observed a suspicious vehicle on the east side of town. The vehicle took a route that the officer found peculiar and felt the vehicle was trying to avoid police.

The officer stopped the vehicle and found that the driver was suspended and currently bound by an undertaking, not have care or control of a motor vehicle.

The suspect was removed from the car and placed under arrest. The officer searched the vehicle incident to arrest.

During the search, officers located a quantity of narcotics in the vehicle. The suspect was brought to Midland Police Service, charged and held for a bail hearing on Jan. 22, 2017.

Charged is Cody Vandervoort, 20-year-old male from Midland, Ont., with:

  • Fail to comply with undertaking sec.145(5.1) C.C.
  • Possession of schedule 2 marijuana sec. 4(1) C.D.S.A.
  • Possession for purpose cocaine sec 5(2) C.D.S.A.
