Police called to investigate suspected drive-thru drunk driver in Stroud

Breath tests resulted in readings of twice the legal limit; 57-year-old Colborne man charged

INNISFIL - On Saturday, July 13, 2019 around 10:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to two calls regarding a possible impaired driver at a coffee shop drive-thru in Stroud.

The suspect vehicle subsequently left and travelled southbound on Yonge Street before parking in a nearby plaza.

When police arrived, the driver was arrested after the officer detected signs of impairment. He was transported to North Division where breath tests resulted in readings of twice the legal limit.

A 57-year-old Colborne man was charged with impaired driving and over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.
