NEWS RELEASE

BARRIE POLICE

*************************
Barrie Police Service attended an address on Wellington Street East, in the City of Barrie, for a vehicle that was stolen out of the driveway and as a second call came in, it was evident the same vehicle was responsible for a fail to remain accident a short distance away.

On Friday, March 24, 2017 shortly after 8:30 a.m. the complainant reports her vehicle was warming up in the driveway of the residence and when she exited her house, it was no longer in the driveway.

Description of Stolen Vehicle:

  • 2004 Red
  • Nissan Maxima
  • Marker: BPAZ681

While officers were investigating the theft of the vehicle a report came in for a motor vehicle collision where one vehicle had fled the scene.  Police believe the stolen vehicle rear ended a car in the intersection of Minet's Point Road and Lakeshore Drive, in the City of Barrie, then fled southbound on Huronia Road.  It is believed the vehicle was being driven by a single male driver but limited descriptors are available.

Police are continuing their investigation at this time and wish for anyone who may have information to please contact PC B Hayes of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext. 2570 or email at [email protected]. Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.tipsubmit.com
