On Friday, June 21 around 2:30 p.m., North Division officers were called to Leslie Drive in the Town of Innisfil regarding a suspicious person who was possibly armed with a handgun.
Several officers responded to the area and located the person in question.
The man was quickly arrested without incident. While searching the suspect, officers located a pellet gun concealed in his waistband.
The man was transported to the North Division for processing. While at the police station, he was unco-operative and kicked one of the investigating officers. Fortunately, the officer was not hurt.
A 26-year-old Innisfil man will be appearing for a bail hearing on Saturday, June 22 facing the following charges:
- Weapons Dangerous to the Public Peace;
- Carry a Concealed Weapon;
- Assault Police;
- Uttering Death Threats;
- Failing to Comply with a Court Order.
During the investigation, Holy Cross School was temporarily placed in a lockdown to prevent anyone from entering or exiting the the school. The lockdown was lifted about 10 minutes later after the man was arrested. South Simcoe Police would like to thank the staff and students at the school for their quick response to this incident.
