Pedestrian killed after being struck by train in Port Stanton

Very few details are being released about tragic incident that occurred Saturday night and claimed the life of a 55-year-old man

A man was struck and killed by a CN train near Port Stanton Saturday night.

A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a CN train Saturday night.

The CN Police are investigating the incident that occurred at about 11 p.m. near Port Stanton Parkway, which is near Bayview Wildwood Resort, approximately 25 kilometres north of Orillia. 

CN Police would not answer specific questions about the incident, but provided the following statement.

"Late Saturday night, CN crews responded to an incident involving a CN train and a pedestrian near Port Stanton. Our thoughts are with the individual affected by this incident and their family," said the statement from Alexandre Boulé, senior advisor, media relations and public affairs.

"As the investigation is ongoing, we have no further comment at this time."

OPP Sgt. Jason Folz was able to confirm that a 55-year-old East York man was killed in the incident.

"We are assisting CN Police with their investigation," said Folz.

No other details were released.
