TAY TWP. - Members of the OPP Marine Unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2019 to a report of a vessel in distress on Hogg Bay, Tay Township.

A 24-foot vessel was adrift in the dark with mechanical difficulties in gail force winds which was creating four-foot swells. The marine unit located the vessel and its two occupants safe deep into the weedy shoreline on the east side of Paradise Point, Tay Township.

The vessel and its occupants were removed without incident and a vessel equipment check found that the vessel had all of the required safety equipment.

For anyone who is unsure of the equipment required for their vessel please view the following link to get the "APP" for their mobile device https://csbc.ca/en/boatnotes or https://csbc.ca/fr/

Police remind vessel operators that an essential part our enforcement effort is to save lives and reduce injuries on our waterways while promoting and educating the public about safe boating practices.
