Investigation of Essa Township crash continues

Motorcycle rider, a Tottenham resident, was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries

At approximately 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a two-vehicle collision on County Road 56 near Trillium Lane, Essa Township.

Georgian Ambulance and Essa Township Fire were already on scene.

The operator of the motorcycle, Chris Desouza, age 42, of Tottenham, Ont., was transported to a local area hospital for examination and then airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital for further treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the motor vehicle involved, Richard Price, of Barrie, was travelling southbound on County Road 56 and attempting to turn left into a private driveway when it came in collision with the northbound motorcyclist.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI)  along with Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team members attended the scene and County Road 56 was closed until approximately 1 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 6.

This collision is still under investigation.
