Orillia OPP Const. Martin Hill has provided the following additional information:
The victim and the accused were known to one another. It is unknown whether they were current residents of the address where the shooting occurred.
It is unknown whether anyone else was there at the time of the shooting.
The accused was still on scene when police arrived and he was arrested without incident. He has a Feb. 4 court date in Barrie.
Police believe there is no threat to public safety.
"We believe it was an isolated incident," Hill said.

ORO-MEDONTE - On Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at approximately 11:35 a.m., members with the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) responded to a report of a shooting at a Line 10 North address in the Township of Oro-Medonte.
Officers responded to the residence where a male victim identified as Lee William Lackey, 34 years old, was located inside suffering life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently transported to a Toronto area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Peter Vanderveen, 69 years old, of Oro-Medonte Township, was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder Contrary to Section 239 of the Criminal Code.
The investigation remains ongoing with members of the Orillia OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) under the direction of Detective Inspector Darren Webster of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
