One dead, one critically injured in Muskoka boating crash

SEGUIN TOWNSHIP - The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal collision involving two vessels on Lake Joseph near Emerald Island in Seguin Township.

The collision occurred on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at approximately 11:30 p.m.

A 64-year-old male from Florida, USA was fatally injured, and a 48-year-old female from Markham, Ont. sustained critical injuries.

The investigation is being conducted by OPP North East Region Crime Unit, North East Regional Support Team, OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Technical Marine Collision Unit under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Martin Graham Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

The OPP is asking for anyone with relevant information or who may have been in the Emerald Island area at the time in question, to call the West Parry Sound OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
