INNISFIL - On Monday, Mar. 13, 2017, just before 5 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Traffic & Marine officer was patrolling 10 Sideroad near Innisfil Beach Road. The Radar Detector Detector (RDD) in his cruiser alerted him to a passing vehicle.

The officer stopped the car and examined a dash mounted device. The tablet-style GPS was equipped with a radio, a dash cam and a working radar detector.

The item was seized and the woman charged with driving with a speed measuring warning device.

Drivers are reminded that radar detectors are illegal in Ontario. Use of a radar detector will result in a $170 fine and three demerit points if convicted. The device will be seized at the time of the offence and will not be returned.
