North York man charged with impaired driving and racing

SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON - Members of the Highway Safety Division of Central Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 26 in Springwater Township shortly after 7 a.m. after an officer clocked a vehicle travelling at 148km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

 Nazariy Humennyy (age 20) of North York, Ontario was charged with:

  • Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit 
  • Race a motor vehicle - excessive speed
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

His driver's licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on July 2, 2019.
