A 29-year-old Niagara Falls man is facing a long list of charges following a fail to remain collision involving a stolen vehicle.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at 2:16 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a collision on Highway 89 just east of 10th Sideroad in Innisfil. When officers arrived they found a vehicle on its roof and a hydro pole that had been struck and was split approximately 25 feet from the ground.

Witnesses told police the lone occupant of the vehicle climbed out of the rear window and ran from the scene. One citizen gave chase but stopped the pursuit in a forested area. Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from Niagara Region sometime overnight Friday into Saturday morning.

He was transported to North Division where he was checked by paramedics, then transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was  returned to the division where a positive test was registered for THC on a drug screening device.
