Tax scam alert
INNISFIL - The tax scammers are taking it to the next level.
We have had complaints that citizens are receiving telephone calls from suspects purporting to be South Simcoe Police officers and demanding immediate tax payments and threaten arrest. The suspects are using actual names of our officers to trick people.
The South Simcoe Police do not and will not act as a collection agency for any government department and no officer will ever ask you for money.
These clever scammers are even spoofing the call display to make their victims think the police are actually calling.
If you receive a call like this, call us immediately.
