Murder suspect appears in Barrie court following arrest

Cory Greavette, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and disguise with intent

The man charged with first-degree murder following a fatal stabbing last weekend in downtown Barrie appeared in court today.

This afternoon, Barrie police announced they had made an arrest in the Nov. 16 stabbing death of 30-year-old Ryan Babineau.

BarrieToday has learned 28-year-old Cory Greavette, of no fixed address, has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and disguise with intent after he was arrested at a Barrie residence.

Babineau was killed at a lower-level apartment behind 16 Dunlop St. E. He died from his injuries at the hospital. 

Greavette is scheduled to appear in bail court via video on Nov. 27.

Police have also told BarrieToday that there could be more arrests linked to the case.
