Barrie Police were called to Fairview Road, just north of Little Avenue, in the City of Barrie, on Monday, July 16, 2018 just after 9 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision involving a motorcycle.

The investigation revealed the motorcycle was travelling northbound on Fairview Road when it lost control on a bend in the road.

The driver, a 29-year-old female from Tiny Township, left the motorcycle before it collided with an oncoming car. The driver continued to travel into oncoming traffic however the quick actions of an attentive driver travelling southbound, manoeuvred his truck, missing the female.

The motorcycle driver sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. The driver in the oncoming car who struck the motorcycle was not physically injured as a result of the collision.

Investigators in the Barrie Police Traffic Unit are continuing with their investigation at this time.

They would like to stress the importance of knowing your surroundings, constantly scanning and eliminating distractions inside your vehicle. Reaction times with few distractions are generally between one and two seconds however, with distractions present, times increase to at least three to four seconds.
