Midland man faces attempted murder charge

On Mar. 30, 2017 in the evening hours Midland Police Service received a report of a stabbing at an east end residence. Police and EMS attended the residence where they found a 35-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The suspect, a man known to the victim, had fled the scene. Hours later, Midland Police stopped a motor vehicle occupied by the suspect at King Street and Yonge Street where they took the suspect into custody without further incident.

The victim has been admitted to Georgian Bay General Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation Midland Police Service have arrested and charged a 34-year-old Midland man. Further investigation revealed that he was also bound by a probation order at the time and was charged accordingly.

Charged is Steven Taylor, 34 years old of Midland, ON, with:

  • Attempt murder - CC 239(1)(b)
  • Aggravated assault - CC 268
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose CC 88 breach of probation - CC 733.1

The suspect has been held for bail hearing and will appear in Barrie Court of Justice on Mar. 31, 2017.
