Midland man charged with impaired

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Midland Police Service received a complaint of a hit and run collision on Bayshore Drive in the Town of Midland. The complainant had been struck by a vehicle that veered into his lane and collided into the side of his vehicle.

The suspect vehicle continued driving so the complainant turned and followed it, two other vehicles were (allegedly) forced to take evasive action to avoid being struck. The male driver continued on Highway #12 where officers located the suspect vehicle and maneuvered into positions that forced the male driver to bring his vehicle to a stop.

The suspect was (allegedly) disoriented and was not aware that he had struck another vehicle and could not explain how his vehicle had been damaged.

He was arrested for dangerous driving and upon further investigation, a drug recognition evaluation demand was made. The suspect was transported to Midland Police Service where a drug evaluation was conducted.

The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days and his licence was suspended for 90 days.

Charged is Andreas Seemann, a 57-year-old male of Midland, Ont., with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle - 249(1)(a) CC
  • Operating motor vehicle while impaired - 253(1)(a) CC

Seemann is to appear in Midland Court of Justice on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
