Man faces several weapons charges

On Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at 7:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a Britannia Avenue home about a man making threats while armed with a baton.

Responding officers learned that a suspect had recently arrived at the home looking for a woman. When he found out she was in the garage, he allegedly damaged the garage door with a crowbar, then assaulted a man inside the garage.

He fled the scene with the woman before officers arrived. He was later located nearby and arrested.

A 44-year-old Barrie man was later released on a no contact condition, charged with assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of weapons dangerous, carrying a concealed weapon and mischief Under $5,000. He will appear in court in September.

The victim did not require medical attention.
