Man charged with arson following Holland Street fire in Bradford

Passersby helped police identify suspect; 69-year-old Bradford man has been charged

South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged a 69-year-old Bradford man with arson following a fire at a vacant building.

On Sunday, April 7, 2019 around 7:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were dispatched to a fire at a vacant building on Holland Street East in Bradford that had burned down on Feb. 9, 2019.

The latest fire was quickly extinguished by Bradford West Gwillimbury firefighters. There were no injuries.

A number of passersby saw the fire early Sunday morning and remained at the scene to provide information and help police identify a suspect. We would like to extend a sincere thank you for your support and assistance with this investigation.

The accused was released with a future court date.

On Monday, April 8, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 86 calls for service.
