A 71-year-old East Gwillimbury man has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian after a woman was struck and killed in Bradford last October.

The charge was laid on Tuesday, March, 12, 2019 following an exhaustive five-month investigation by the South Simcoe Police Service.

On Oct. 27, 2018 at 7:30 p.m., 40-year-old Cheryl Carre of Bradford was struck and killed while crossing in the area of Holland Street West and West Park Avenue.

The investigation involved an examination of vehicles by the Centre of Forensic Sciences, numerous witness interviews, the execution of five search warrants and the viewing of hours and hours of security camera footage from multiple locations.

"This was a classic text book investigation where the investigators left no stone unturned following every piece of evidence to reach this outcome. We thank our community members for their assistance," said Deputy Chief McElary-Downer.
