The Barrie police tactical support unit and uniformed officers responded to a possible gun call this morning and ended up taking a man into custody.

At around 7 a.m., police were alerted to a male with what was believed to be a firearm near the Allandale Waterfront GO station, located near Lakeshore Drive and Tiffin Street.

Officers responded and took a male into custody.

Police officials say the weapon was determined to be an airsoft gun, which look like real firearms but are used in activities such as paintball.

A 40-year-old Barrie man has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and weapons dangerous.
