Man, 67, charged after stopping in intersection to eat chicken wings

Police say when they arrived, driver was stopped in an intersection and unaware that he earlier was involved in two-vehicle collision

A man is facing impaired charges after colliding with a vehicle, fleeing scene and stopping in an intersection to eat chicken wings.

On Dec. 7, 2021 at 9:10 p.m. Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police received a call for a motor vehicle that failed to remain after colliding with a vehicle on Muskoka Road 169, in the Town of Gravenhurst.

Within 30 minutes police received a second call of a vehicle stopped in an intersection on Muskoka Road 169. When Police arrived the male driver was behind the wheel finishing his chicken wings, and he was unaware of the collision.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 67-year-old William Newlove of Muskoka Lakes with impaired operation and fail to report accident.

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 4, 2022 to answer to his charges.

Officers will continue to patrol our roadways and trails and those drivers found impaired by alcohol or drugs will have a date in criminal court, have their driver's licence suspended immediately for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days. Be responsible and make good decisions, and help others make good decisions too!
