Lone occupant killed in single-vehicle crash on Highway 400

GEORGIAN BAY TWP. - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 12:52 p.m. Sept. 18, 2019 to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 400, Georgian Bay Township.

OPP uniform members were assisted at the scene by members of the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit (TTCI) and Georgian Bay Township Fire Services and Muskoka Ambulance Services at a scene which was located approximately 20 metres off the northbound lanes into the east ditch, .5 kilometres north of exit 162 on Kings Highway 400.

Investigation is continuing into the cause of the single vehicle crash that claimed the life of the lone occupant, an 88-year-old male driver from the Township of Muskoka Lakes.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways and trails. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
