Barrie police are investigating after a Jeep was stolen from the driveway of a south-end home overnight this week.

Shortly before 6 a.m., on Wednesday, May 24, city police responded to a call in southwest Barrie about a vehicle theft.

When officers arrived at the Mabern Street home, police learned that the owner of a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, red in colour, woke up to find that it was missing from where he had parked it at 10:30 p.m. the night before.

The owner, who police say was in possession of two sets of keys, did not hear any noises overnight that could be attributed to the theft.

The Jeep had Ontario licence plates BWMW359 on it when it was stolen.

Police are reminding motor vehicle owners to always lock your motor vehicle when you park it and, if possible, secure it in a garage. Other security options can include the use of a steering wheel locking device, install security lighting and consider utilizing security cameras when possible.
