On Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers conducted five separate RIDE programs for Super Bowl Sunday.
Officers stopped 650 vehicles which resulted in the following:
- one over 80 charge
- one 3-day warn range suspension
- one provincial offences notice for drive with cannabis in open baggage
- 10 roadside breath tests which resulted in a pass
The driver charged with over 80 at a RIDE program in Bradford was a 25-year-old man from Innisfil.
Around 11 p.m., officers conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Jay Street and Dissette Street stopped a vehicle. The man was arrested for impaired driving after a fail was registered on a roadside screening device. He was transported to South Division where breath tests resulted in a charge of over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
