INNISFIL - A 22-year-old Innisfil man is facing seven charges following an investigation into counterfeit U.S. money.

On Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 around 3:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a bank on Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona after attempts were made to pass counterfeit American currency. Through investigation, police learned that a man had been using or attempting to use counterfeit American bills at multiple locations throughout Innisfil.

A suspect was identified and police made an arrest on Friday evening. A 22-year-old Innisfil man was charged with five counts of uttering counterfeit money, one count of possessing counterfeit money and one count of possession of suspected cocaine. He was transported to North Division and later released with a future court date.
