Innisfil driver tests four times over legal limit of blood alcohol

Impaired driver - Innisfil

On Saturday December 3, 2016 just before 6 p.m., a RIDE officer stopped a 36-year-old Innisfil man for erratic driving. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the station for further testing. The man provided breath samples that were four times over the limit. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his drivers licence automatically suspended for 90 days. The man was held in custody until sober and eventually released with a Criminal Court date later this month.

Festive R.I.D.E. checks with York Regional Police

On Saturday December 3, 2016 at 9 p.m., RIDE officers from South Simcoe Police met up with RIDE officers from York Regional Police to perform RIDE checks on Simcoe County Road #27 north of Highway #9 in Bradford.

Officers stopped 300 vehicles and tested 21 drivers. Two drivers were found to be in the warn range and had their licence suspended for three days. Another driver had his vehicle removed from the road for improper licence plates.

Officers will continue to work together to perform RIDE checks during this Festive RIDE season.

This past Friday and Saturday South Simcoe RIDE officers stopped 821 vehicles and tested 35 drivers on the road side that had been drinking.

Six drivers were arrested and charged with Impaired / Over 80 mgs. Seven other drivers received a warn range suspension of three days. Two drivers were charged with possession of a controlled substance and two drivers were charged with novice driver violations.

Police continue to target drivers who choose to drink and drive. Please do your part, if you suspect an impaired driver, call 911 and report it.
