Homeowner requires medical treatment after overnight break and enter

The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a break and enter occurred in the City of Barrie and the homeowner was assaulted.

This morning, shortly after 9 a.m., Police were made aware of an occurrence that occurred overnight on Cygnus Crescent after the homeowner awoke to let a family pet out into the yard. The homeowner was confronted by an unknown male who forced his way into the residence which resulted in the homeowner being assaulted and requiring treatment at a local hospital.

The investigation is being conducted by the Barrie Police Service Crimes Against Person Unit and they are receiving assistance from the Forensic Identification Unit, Investigative Services and Uniform Patrol.

Detectives have determined that the person, who is believed to be responsible for this assault is described as:

  • Male, white, late 30s to early 40s, 5’8-5’10’ tall, heavy stocky build, brown eyes, dark buzz cut style hair and a scruffy dark beard
  • Wearing blue jeans and a brown zippered hoodie
