Holland Landing man charged with drug possession, impaired driving

Police say they were investigating an illegally plated vehicle when they came across the driver passed out in the driver's seat of the vehicle

A Holland Landing man faces several charges including drug impaired driving following a traffic stop in Bradford.

On Monday, June 15, 2020,  around 12:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers investigated an illegally plated vehicle on Holland Street West and subsequently seized the licence plates.

Around 2:30 a.m., police located a man who appeared to be passed out in the driver's seat of the vehicle. Drug paraphernalia and suspected cocaine were also observed inside. The man was arrested for impaired driving and drug possession.

A second man was arrested at the scene for drug possession. A Drug Recognition Expert conducted an examination of the man found inside the vehicle.  

As a result of investigation, 46-year-old Terry Renshaw of Holland Landing was charged with impaired operation, operation while impaired by drug, two counts of drug possession and breach of probation.  

Joshua Balasingam, 35, of Newmarket, was charged with two counts of drug possession and breach of probation.

The two accused were released with future court dates.
