Hwy. 400 southbound closed at Waubaushene bridge (update: reopened)

7:30 p.m. update:

Southern Georgian Bay OPP has advised that the 400 South Bound Lanes between Quarry Road and Highway 12 at Waubaushene  has been reopened.

Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police advise of the following road closure:

Highway: 400 southbound lanes

Location: Bridge at Waubaushene

Brief description of event: 4:25 p.m. on March 1, 2021 OPP officers were dispatched to a multi car crash in white-out conditions on Highway 400 southbound lanes on the bridge over top of Duck Bay at Waubaushene, Tay Township.

Upwards to 11 vehicles are currently involved with numerous persons injured and six County of Simcoe Paramedic EMS vehicles are on scene assisting with the injured. A County of Simcoe LINX bus is assisting by removing involved persons away from the scene to the Tay Township Fire Hall in Waubaushene.

Detour: South bound traffic is being diverted by OPP officers at the scene onto Quarry road into Waubaushene then onto Highway 12. ALL SOUTH BOUND TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY 400 IS STOPPED BETWEEN QUARRY ROAD AND HIGHWAY 12 WEST.

Estimated duration of Road Advisory: Unknown
