Funny money circulating in north Simcoe

OPP alerted to reports of counterfeit $100 bills at stores in Midland and Penetanguishene on Saturday

PENETANGUISHENE - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched at 10:34 a.m. June 8, 2019 to a report of a Penetanguishene business that had received suspected counterfeit money for a retail store purchase.

The OPP Communication Centre also received a similar complaint later in the day at 5:52 p.m. from a Midland retail store.

The counterfeit currency is described as being $100 Canadian currency bills and the passers used them to make in store purchases.

Investigators wish to advise area retailers to be aware of these recent incidents and for more information on how to check and report suspected counterfeit money please view the following links.
