Family dispute sends one to hospital, daughter sought by police

'The dispute was between a parent and a child and we are currently trying to locate the suspect,' says police official

One person has been sent to hospital and police are searching for a suspect following a family dispute in the city's north end this afternoon.

Barrie police received a call just after 2:30 p.m. about an incident at 101 Kozlov St., located near Livingstone and Bayfield streets.

One person was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. No details about the person's injuries or the severity have been released by police.

Police are still searching for a female suspect, who is the injured person's daughter.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday that an incident did "escalate to the point where someone was injured and transported to local hospital.

"The dispute was between a parent and a child and we are currently trying to locate the suspect, who is the daughter of the injured person," Leon added.

Leon called the incident “isolated in nature.”

Both uniformed officers and specialty units answered the call, which Leon termed "an appropriate response."

Police remained on scene Monday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing with officers in the area trying to locate a person of interest.
