East-end stabbing leaves police with unco-operative victim, no suspects

A Barrie police officer, who was at the hospital on an unrelated matter, was alerted to the situation by an RVH staff member

Police descended on Harrogate Crescent near Georgian College last night around 8 p.m. following a stabbing that happened earlier in the evening.

Barrie police communication co-ordinator Peter Leon said details are limited because the teenage victim is not co-operating with the investigation at this time.

“There was an officer at (the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre) on an unrelated matter who was approached by hospital staff," Leon said. "Staff alerted the officer they were treating a stab-wound victim who had been brought in by a family member."

The injury was serious, but the victim's condition this morning is unclear, Leon said.

Officers were able to get information that the victim was “knocked down by a number of people” on Harrogate Crescent, Leon said, which led to a police presence in the area as officers searched of evidence that a stabbing occurred, which they were able to confirm.

Harrogate Crescent is located near Johnson Street and Georgian Drive, not far from RVH.

Police are hoping to find home surveillance video that will assist them in piecing together what happened.
