Driver arrested after single vehicle collision in Oro-Medonte

ORO-MEDONTE - On Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 6:04 p.m., members of the Barrie Ontario Provincial Police Detachment (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 northbound near Line 13 of Oro-Medonte Township.

Witnesses reported that the driver of a black Honda Civic was driving erratically when it struck the centre guardrail. 

Robert Cross, 34 years old of Kitchener, Ont., has been charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Driving while ability impaired - motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Drive hand held communication device contrary to section 78.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive while under suspension contrary to section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act

Cross has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on Monday, July 17, 2017.
