INNISFIL - A 23-year-old Oshawa woman was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre following an early morning, single-vehicle collision in Innisfil.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2020 around 1:20 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer located a single-vehicle collision on 20th Sideroad between Lockhart Road and the 10th Line. A white Toyota Corolla had left the roadway, struck a culvert and went airborne before hitting a utility pole.

Innisfil Fire and Rescue Services extricated the female driver who was the lone occupant. The woman was assessed on scene by County of Simcoe Paramedics and then transported to a local hospital. She was then airlifted via Ornge Air Ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre where she is listed in critical condition.

Traffic Unit officers attended the scene for collision reconstruction. Police are investigating several possible factors including speed, inexperience and alcohol.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police.
