Domestic violence investigation leads to weapons charges

INNISFIL - A 35-year-old Cookstown man faces several charges after police received a report of domestic violence incidents.

On Monday, March 18, 2019, officers launched an investigation into a report that a 30-year-old woman was assaulted and threatened on different occasions. The investigation resulted in an arrest and the following charges:

  • Point firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault
  • Firearm or weapon: possession contrary to prohibition order

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The victim did not require medical treatment.
