Emergency crews perform CPR on a man found unconscious on Empire Avenue in Barrie's south end, Sunday afternoon.

About a half-hour after a similar incident at Heritage Park in downtown Barrie, emergency crews responded to another call in the city's south end after a man was found unconscious in the snow along the side of the road.

At 4 p.m., Sunday, emergency workers tended to an older man lying on the street on Empire Avenue at Chamboro Court, south of Big Bay Point Road.

Crews performed CPR on the man for several minutes before loading him into an ambulance to heading to the hospital.

At the scene, a young woman who lives nearby and was driving to work at the time told BarrieToday she had found the man on the ground and stopped to help and call 911.

Another woman who was there began CPR on the man until emergency crews arrived.

A Barrie police officer who responded to the scene told BarrieToday there were no additional details at this time.
