Couple went to buy drugs, says they were robbed

They told police they were threatened and robbed after going to a home to purchase drugs

BRADFORD - The South Simcoe Police Street Crime Unit has made two arrests following an armed robbery in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The robbery occurred on Sept. 11, 2018 at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the area of Sideroad 10 and County Road 88. A 22-year-old Bradford man and his 20-year-old girlfriend told police they were threatened and robbed after going to a home to purchase drugs.

On Sept. 13, 2018, Street Crime Unit officers executed search warrants at a home in Bradford. A number of items were seized including a large amount of suspected marijuana.

An 18-year-old Bradford man is charged with the following:
    •    Robbery with a firearm
    •    Robbery with a weapon
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
    •    Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
    •    Possession of stolen property under $5,000
    •    Possession of stolen property over $5,000
    •    Possession of a controlled substance
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking

A 17-year-old Bradford youth is charged with the following:
    •    Robbery with a firearm
    •    Robbery with a weapon
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
    •    Firearm used while committing an offence
    •    Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - 2 counts
    •    Possession of a controlled substance
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking

No one was injured during the robbery. Some of the stolen items have been recovered.
