Police on the hunt for driver following fatal hit-and-run this morning

At approximately 2:45 a.m., this morning, Barrie police received a call regarding an injured male in the intersection of Wellington and Toronto streets.

Upon the arrival of police, it was determined that the victim had been struck by a vehicle that had failed to remain on scene.

The victim, a 33-year-old Barrie man, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

The involved vehicle is believed to be a navy blue compact or mid-sized SUV/crossover or mini-van type vehicle, which would have significant damage to the front end.

Police also believe that there may have been witnesses in the area at the time of the collision.
